IMPROVING THE UI
FOR ANIMATES VET CARE
We redesigned the animates vet care webpage to make it easy to communicate and book appointments in a busy work environment.
PROBLEM & SOLUTIONS
The Animates vet care was formed several years ago but it lacked any sort of branding and style guide. It also lacked an online presence, including a website, social media, and online supporters. Our goal for building the animates brand was to create a visual language that could foster the growth of the brand, build a community of supporters, and create a design system that could carry the brand forward. Animates has aggressive fundraising goals and it needed a strong facelift to make its brand reflect the same level of importance as its mission.
We determined to release the website in phases, the first being an easy landing web page that describes the vet care and affords hyperlinks for consultations and appointments. Later, the second one phase website could be extra informative with a lively blog, social media and content material that tells the total story.
DEFINING THE AREA OF IMPACT
At the product audit, we discovered quite a few regions for development. A lot of the problems became information on the webpage at a fundamental stage. There had been plenty of "functions" to parse and their conceptual metaphors have been inconsistent and difficult. We came up with a plan to break up the project into two levels:
• visible cleanup
• UI overhaul and prioritization of characteristic
MOVING TO MODERN UI
We designed four new templates: the vetcare, services, training and petpoints and teamed up with Matt to handle the dev work. We updated the brand typography from using three fonts to using one single font with a variety of weights and widths. This updated style guide, colour palette, and typography really took our web presence to the next level and helped elevate the entire launch experience.
BRINGING THE SITE TOGETHER
On the website, we had to deal with two key storytelling issues. 1) How to connect clients with veterinarians with a single click. 2) How can we raise the Animates brand such that it is perceived as a true care provider rather than a pet store? Animates is without a doubt the best pet service provider in the market. We want their website to tell that story effectively.
